Nine days in Morocco gives you enough time to see the country change around you instead of simply moving between famous places. This Morocco itinerary 9 days begins beside the Atlantic in Casablanca, climbs north toward Rabat and the Rif Mountains, spends real time in Chefchaouen and Fes, crosses the Middle Atlas to the Sahara and finishes among the High Atlas landscapes before reaching Marrakech. The first days focus on Morocco's cities and history. Begin in Casablanca with the Hassan II Mosque area before continuing through Rabat to Chefchaouen, the famous blue Moroccan city. A full day there means you do not have to treat Chefchaouen as a quick photo stop. From Chefchaouen, the road continues through Volubilis and Meknes before reaching Fes. Day five is reserved for a proper Fes guided tour, giving you time inside the historic Medina rather than simply passing through it. Day six brings one of the biggest changes of scenery. Ifrane and the Middle Atlas lead into the palm-filled Ziz Valley, then the road reaches Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, the vehicle gives way to a camel ride across the sand before you arrive at your Merzouga luxury desert camp. The following day remains around Merzouga for a 4x4 desert experience, Khamlia and local desert life. The final stretch moves west through Rissani, Todra Gorge, Dades, Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas and arriving in Marrakech.
